These last few days have seen the longest sunlight out of the year. So, we stayed up and watched the bridges again. Here's a picture of us in front of a raised bridge at about 2:30am. Check it out.

Goodbye Hospital
I finished up my service at the hospital. For any of you who are curious, here's a picture of my uniform. That's Kirill with me in the picture.
Meal time!
People always ask me what they feed us here in Russia. So, here are some pictures of James and me at meal time. This is a very typical dinner for us: Juice compote, a dill-seasoned salad consisting of tomatos and cucumbers, a main course, then herbal tea and cookies at the end. Our main course was DELICIOUS stuffed peppers. Seated at right is Elena Fyodorovna. Her son, Kirill is at the left while James is sitting in my seat. He normally sits to the right of Elena Fyodorovna.

White Nights
I took this picture while I was on the cruise. That's 10:30pm, and you can kinda see the bright sun at the top left corner of the picture. Sunny at 10:30 is nothing special though. It gets almost dark at 2:30, but by 3:00am or a little later, it's light again. Crazy.
Hooray For Fish
Monday was Kirill's birthday and he offered me some of these absolutely nasty-looking fish. They were whole fish (only the head was chopped off, but the tail remained) and they were canned in this nasty oil. So, I tried to politely decline the fish, but my lovely roommate, James, added "Austin, I know you want to try one of those fish for Kirril on his birthday." After two minutes of gathering all the will-power in my body, I managed to eat a fish. I think I almost died though...

Do you see the metal bird beneath me? The local students have a tradition that if you can drop a coin, hit the bird and then have the coin stay on the platform, then you your wish will come true. It's actually harder than it looks. But guess who got it on his only try...

Wow, that is pretty crazy. How long does the light actually last. At first I thought it was white nights because it was a bunch of white boys out on the town at night and the St.Petersburg girls having to fight them off with sticks.
